Book Review: Where Rainbow Meets the Sky by Vidhi Duggal

Book: Where Rainbow meets the Sky
Author: Vidhi Duggal
Genre: Romance Novella | Fiction
Format: PDF
Pages: 62

Sweet and refreshing like the morning dew on rose petals

"Where Rainbow meets the Sky" is a sweet romance novella by Vidhi Duggal. It tells the story of Rahul, Mehek, and a dreamcatcher. The author has used the dreamcatcher not as a mere object, but as one of the protagonists of the story. The dreamcatcher in the cover and the title of the book are significant. It's only after reading the story we understand why the author has chosen the title "Where Rainbow meets the sky".

Rahul, a rich and handsome guy from Delhi goes on a vacation to Manali with his friends. He works as a model. He meets Mehek in Manali who has a huge crush on him after noticing his poster outside a shop. The crush metamorphoses into love during their vacation in Manali.

Mehek is pursuing journalism and lives in Bombay. She gives her address and phone number to Rahul before leaving Manali. Rahul gifts a blue dreamcatcher to Mehek and buys a similar dreamcatcher for him.

Once they leave Manali, they are out of touch. Despite trying his level best, Rahul is unable to reach Mehek on her number and her address. Feeling betrayed, Rahul goes into a self-destruction mode until his friends help him regain sanity. It is only after 20 years that Rahul meets Mehek accidentally.

Both Rahul and Mehek are single.
Both of them have the dreamcatcher.

Will they reunite?
Why did Mehek betray Rahul?
What is Mehek's side of the story?
How important is a closure?
Why some people cannot be forgotten, even after 20 years?

To know these answers, you have to read this short and sweet novella.

I loved the character sketch of both Rahul and Mehek. I loved the way the author has treated the dreamcatcher as the main character of the story. The last chapter was very beautifully written that answers all the questions and leaves the reader satisfied.

Although it is a romance novella, it has a very unconventional and philosophical ending that makes you think. I liked the freshness of the story and the profound dialogues in the last chapter.

"Where Rainbow meets the Sky" is a sweet and refreshing story like the morning dew on rose petals.

Dive in to find out how Meer enters her heart in softest steps and what destiny has in store for the lovely duo.

My Review:

After a long time, I read a very innocent and pure love story. I believe this is the strength of the Roma's 2nd book "The Fragrance of True Love". If you are a person who believes in true love, you will surely feel the fragrance of true love wrapping you while you are reading the book. As I am fond of love stories, I cherished reading this book. I had a smile pasted on my face all the time when I was reading the book.

"The Fragrance of True Love" is the love story of Priyam and Meer. They meet in college and fall in love. But Priyam's dark, painful past restrains her from embracing her feelings whole heartedly. She fights with her feelings as memories of her painful past haunts her. But J.S Park has rightly said "Real love doesn't meet you at your best. It meets you in your mess." That is how Meer's love helps Priyam to rise above her messy heart and painful memories.

On the other hand, Meer who looks very sorted starts believing that he is a victim of ill-luck when he couldn't get a job in the campus placements. When he writes a letter to her saying his bad luck will pull her back, she promptly says that there is no Priyam without Meer. The way Priyam and Meer support each other in each other's ups and downs will surely touch the heart of readers. After all, love is all about not leaving your beloved's hand during adverse conditions, but rather holding it even tighter.

There are many touching moments in the book like their short vacation to Nainital where Meer gifted Priyam a multi-colored anklet with the alphabets PRIYAMEER, the first time when Priyam saw Meer in Skype when he is Australia and for a moment she gets so emotional that she forgets that they are on the internet and the first time when Priyam meets Meer's Dad.

The book is all about how true love can heal the deepest wounds. It is all about how beautiful, patient and understanding true love can be. Here are some lovely lines from the book:

Holding her breath, your Princess waits here my Prince Charming
With the power of your kindness and love, wash away her pain
Lift her up in your arms and take her forever to your magical castle
Where only smiles and laughter rock your lives' cradle.

On the flip side, there are some editing errors, mostly typos that can hamper the pace of reading. Apart from that, if you are looking for a sweet and innocent love story, this book is the right pick. I am going with 4 stars. Make your monsoons romantic with this dose of romance from Roma.

Will the Activist and the Capitalist ever be able to find common ground?

An exciting love story, set in Chennai from the best-selling author of Sweet Sixteen.

My Rating: 3.5/5

My Review:

The Activist and the Capitalist is a beautiful romantic tale between Jai, a capitalist and Anusha, an activist. It is based on the old age concept of "opposites attract". Jai and Anusha are as different from each other as chalk and cheese. They fight, argue and clash, but there is a mysterious force at play which brings them back to each other time and again.

They met each other for the first time at a beach in unusal circumstances, one night. They separated and meet each other again after a long time when both of them are pitted against each other. The reason is Rasa Vihar, the heritage building which Anusha is trying to protect from Jai, the capitalist.

Both the characters of Jai and Anusha are beautifully sketched. Although Jai is a business tycoon, the way he cares and takes out time for the lady he loves will surely charm the readers. I found the scenes of the cup cake stall extremely delightful. Anusha is sweet, real and charming. She is an introvert who doesn't feel comfortable in opening up to people due to some ugly incidents in her past. However, all her guards seem to fall off when she is with Jai.

The chemistry between Jai and Anusha is sizzling, charming and endearing. Their sweet conversations as well as their heated arguments are a treat to read. The narration of the book is so beautiful that you can read it in one go. Very fast paced, humorous and romantic, this romance novella is a charmer.

However, I felt there were some loose ends in the book, especially before the climax, which hindered the flow of the story. Nevertheless, the climax is saccharine enough to make you forget about all the loose ends.

Recommended to all romance lovers. If you like to read romance, then read this unlikely love story between Jai, the hotshot capitalist and Anusha, the firebrand activist.
